Do you have a Dog?

Did you know that the State of Delaware requires that dogs be licensed and vaccinated?  Licenses are needed for all dogs six months or older as of January 1 and need to be purchased by March 1.

There is still time to get your license and it couldn’t be easier. Dog licenses can be obtained online at www.nccde.org/doglicenses, through the mail or in person at the New Castle County Government Center and other local vendors.

There is a one-year fee of $10 for spayed or neutered dogs and a $15 fee for un-sterilized dogs. Two- and three- year licenses are also available. Dog owners must provide proof that their pet has a current rabies vaccination. Contact 302-323-2600 for more information.

So Close to a Natural Treasure!

Just six short miles east of the Village of Bayberry North lies one of the largest and most beautiful natural resources along the entire East Coast. If you travel east on Boyds Corner Road, cross over Rt. 13, and proceed along Pole Bridge Road to Port Penn, you will discover the Thousand Acre Marsh and Augustine Wildlife Area totaling 2,770 protected acres! The State of Delaware just announced that another 194 acres will be added to this unique and valuable wild life preserve. Anyone interested in birdwatching, wildlife watching, or just pure natural beauty should seek it out, and don’t forget your camera!

Please enjoy reading more details about this acquisition and this area in an article published in the January 8, 2012, News Journal. This is just one of many area attractions that make Bayberry’s location one of the best in the entire state.

A very busy December at Bayberry!

December is always a busy month with Hanukkah, Christmas, shopping, gift wrapping, and tree trimming. There are so many parties to attend, family members to reconnect with, and old friends to greet.

We are proud to report that this December has also been a very busy month at Bayberry. Through the hard work of our Sales and Construction teams, we will welcome seven new families to our Bayberry Community this month! These families will go to settlement and will spend their first holiday in their beautiful new homes.

They will eventually be joined by seven additional families who have signed agreements of sale, also during this month of December.  With seven settlements and seven sales agreements all in one month, Bayberry is now one of the best selling communities in Middletown!

With its great location, close proximity to Route 1, beautiful entrance, and family oriented amenities, we knew from the very beginning that Bayberry would one day be a special place to call home. We thank these fourteen families for wanting to become a part of this exceptional place. We will continue to work hard to make Bayberry a great place to live.

DIAA Division 1 Football State Championship Game

Congratulations to the Middletown High School Cavaliers! On Friday, December 2nd, Middletown won the DIAA Division 1 Football State Championship against Newark High School.

Newark scored the first 16 points of the game, only to have Middletown score three touchdowns in a row during the second and third quarters. The Yellowjackets managed to gain the lead again with another touchdown in the fourth quarter before Middletown’s one-yard touchdown with two minutes left in the game put them back in the lead. Newark attempted one final pass but the Cavaliers defense held on in the final seconds to win the school’s first state title since 2007 with a score of 27-23.

Thanks to both schools for such an exciting game and congratulations on a great season!

Final Bayberry Town Center Plans Cleared

The following is an excerpt from “Final Bayberry Town Center Plans Cleared” by Adam Taylor published in The News Journal on November 13, 2011

New Castle County Council has approved the final design plans for Bayberry Town Center, a 560,000-square-foot commercial and office center three miles south of the Chesapeake & Delaware Canal between Del. 896 and Del. 1.

The council approved the plans for the town center in 2008. Last week’s vote was a formality that notes the developer has satisfied the county Land Use Department’s requirements to have its final development plan recorded with the county. Blenheim Homes is now free to start building.

But that won’t happen for some time. The town center hasn’t been marketed to potential tenants yet, developer Jay Sonecha of Blenheim said. Sonecha envisions the town center would be completed in about 12 years.

Once it’s built, the town center will be the first major shopping center in the area. The closest shopping centers are seven miles away in Middletown and nine miles away in Glasgow.

The town center would be on 76 acres and would include a bank, a grocery store, restaurants and coffee, ice cream and clothing stores. Space has been set aside to donate to the county for a library and to the YMCA for a new branch that could include athletic fields and outdoor pools. Neither the county nor the YMCA has committed to locating there.

The town center plan calls for 318,000 square feet of commercial-retail space, 178,000 square feet of office space and 64,000 square feet of athletic space.

Welcome to the Bayberry Bulletin!

Welcome to the very first edition of the “Bayberry Bulletin!” This will be a regular feature of this website, and will represent our way to quickly communicate with current and prospective homeowners at Bayberry.

When we have important news about Bayberry or the surrounding community, such as local events, special interests, announcements or new product offerings, you will find it here on the “Bayberry Bulletin.” We might profile a Blenheim employee who is part of the home ownership experience beginning with sales and culminating with moving into a beautiful new Bayberry home. Maybe it will just be a short article about the season or what’s happening in Southern New Castle County.

A bulletin is defined as “a brief account or statement, of recent news or important events, issued for the information to the public.” This is the essence of our “Bayberry Bulletin.” We hope you enjoy it and will refer to it on a regular basis.
